Arizona Wedding Vendor Tips & Tricks

Tucson wedding baker and Tucson small business owner, Jayleen of Little Sugar Crumb Sweets, took a moment to give her 5 top tips as a wedding vendor that she loves the to give her wedding couples who purchase wedding cakes and desserts from her.

And now, she is sharing them with you.

These are Little Sugar Crumb Sweets’ Top 5 Tips for your Wedding Cake on your Wedding Day:

Tip #1:

DO NOT PUT YOUR CAKE OR DESSERTS IN THE SUN!

If it’s an outdoor event, Little Sugar Crumb Sweets recommends keeping the cake, and any desserts, out of direct sunlight as the frosting will melt. Whether it’s your baker or your best friend putting your wedding cake out for you and your wedding guests to enjoy during your wedding reception, make sure they do not put your cake in the direct sunlight, especially for an Arizona wedding. Y’all know how that Arizona sun and heat affects everything.

So you want to be sure that they are aware of where the sun is and where it is going, so your beautiful wedding cake is not in the sun’s trajectory.

(The light in the photograph below comes from a flash, not the sun. Come on now.)

Tip #2:

THE CAKE IS YOUR PRECIOUS PASSENGER.

When picking up your wedding desserts and cake, place them on the front passenger floorboard, as it is a flat level surface, and it is more safe there than on the seat, where it can fall off. Plus, this gives you the option to have that A/C blowing down in that area to keep your precious cargo cool.

…Which bring us to tip #3…

Tip #3:

USE YOUR A/C ON WHILE TRANSPORTING YOUR CAKE.

Make sure to have the A/C on when transporting your lovely wedding desserts, BUT do not have it blowing directly on the cake as that as that can cause condensation and lead the beautiful cake fondant and icing to crack.

Tip #4:

FREEZE YOUR LEFTOVERS!

Yup, no reason to leave any wedding goodies behind. If there are any leftover servings from your wedding desserts, you can put them in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or wrap them in plastic wrap and freeze them for up to three months.

Maybe eat them for your 3-month anniversary? laughing

New Years Eve, DIY Intimate, Backyard Wedding near South Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix, Arizona – December 31, 2021                                                                        Candid Sol Wedding Photography

Bride and Groom at the alter sharing their first kiss during their wedding ceremony in a backyard ceremony near South Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona. Bride is holding the groom’s face. The bride is wearing a white, lace wedding dress and mid-back veil and the groom wearing a black tuxedo. In the background are the two officiants wearing black, long coat tuxedos and black and gold sashes, and the maid of honor is wearing a black, floor length dress, holding the bride’s bouquet.

An Arizona wedding just outside of South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona on New Year’s Eve… Yes, please!

Kirt and Alexsis came back to Arizona to have their dream wedding with close friends and family, and it was a PARTY! This was a DIY backyard wedding that incorporated small but very present items (you’ll see some Sailor Moon wedding decor and also some lime and Tajin – if you know, you know) that were important to the couple, and as you will see, their incorporations weren’t just physical items, but truly, their wedding guests. Family is important to this wedding couple and the family was supportive in each aspect of the day.

Even though the skies got dark on the morning of their wedding day, the clouds parted literally at the time of their wedding ceremony, so it really made for some dramatic photos during a lovely Arizona sunset.

One of the most underrated things on a wedding day is showing off the chaos of a what actually happens on the big day. People are everywhere and their shit is everywhere, and THAT IS OKAY. It’s a wedding day and during the getting ready portion of the day, it’s pure chaos. I love that Alexsis and Kirt didn’t shy away from being real in those moments, and they just owned it.

Then there are those quiet wedding moments. Alexsis decided to gift her mother-in-law a meaningful gift that was a beautiful moment just between the Groom and his mom – where the Kirt presented his mom with the gift from her new daughter-in-law. Then there are beautiful wedding moments like the wedding day first look.

Alexsis did a first look with her father which was a sweet moment, and then went on to do a first touch with her husband (where Kirt read a letter that she wrote to him after they first met, but she has not let him read until this day) and that moment turned into a first look. And the excitement on Kirt’s face when he saw his bride for the first time was just priceless (as you will see).

After a stunning backyard wedding ceremony just before sunset, a taco cart, heartfelt wedding toasts, and an outfit change from the bride, the evening concluded with a few intimate moments where the bride and groom took a few wedding portraits and lovingly reminisced about their wedding day. Such a beautiful way to end a New Year’s Eve Wedding (although I am pretty sure their night didn’t end there and plenty more alcohol was consumed LOL).

Tucson Wedding Baker

Who is Little Sugar Crumb Sweets?

Meet Jayleen, the owner of Little Sugar Crumb Sweets, a Tucson baker who creates and serves delicious cakes and desserts for weddings, events, and any time you want something scrumptious. Jayleen creates undeniable treats such as cupcakes, cookies, assorted pastries, churro cheesecake bites, and – her most popular dessert – the personal-sized bento cake that you can choose to share (or not).

Jayleen currently serves the wedding couples and community of Tucson, Arizona but hopes to venture out to and serve Phoenix in the future (so don’t be shy to reach out from Phoenix, Arizona).

She really enjoys decorating and selling her vintage-style bento cakes and sweets at pop-up markets all around town.

Little Sugar Crumb Sweets doesn’t only create wedding cakes and wedding dessert tables, they also create dessert tables for baby showers, birthdays, and other special events in Arizona.

You name it, they’ll be a part of it with their sugary and cakery sweets.

Jayleen, founder of Little Sugar Crumb Sweets, grew up baking alongside her mom and aunt. That’s where her passion for baking began.

Little Sugar Crumb Sweets has been a Tucson boutique, small business for 3 years. “I’ve been baking since I was little – either by myself, with my mom or my aunt – so I’ve always had a passion for baking.” During the notorious covid lockdown, after Jayleen took a long break from baking, she started creating again after TikTok videos got her creative juices flowing.  Soon after, she kept hearing from several family members that she should be selling her delicious creations. After finding her love for cake decorating, her cake business was born, and she was now a part of the wedding vendor scene.

Jayleen has spent countless hours and efforts testing recipes (there was a lot of trial and error). After so much time in the kitchen, this Tucson wedding baker eventually perfected her unique cake receipe and it is now the recipe is what you can taste today. If you have not yet tried Little Sugar Crumb Sweets wedding cakes, then you are in for a TREAT!

She’s Pretty Crafty – Everlasting Wood Florals

Tucson Wedding Florist

Who is She’s Pretty Crafty?

From wedding bouquets and boutonnieres to wedding tablescapes, She’s Pretty Crafty creates handmade florals for weddings, events, and special occasions that are designed specifically with the needs of every client. Corina (she/her), owner and visionary of She’s Pretty Crafty, along with her team, will bring your wedding vision to life with fully customizable flower (purchase or rental) options – offering a unique and everlasting alternative to fresh flowers. She’s Pretty Crafty’s couples are looking for something far beyond just pretty flowers – they want to make an impact that is sustainable, custom and unique to who they are.

EACH handmade, FLORAL PIECE IS TAILORED
TO BE CRAFTED
ANY TIME OF THE YEAR.

She’s Pretty Crafty creates her everlasting wedding florals in Tucson, Arizona, but don’t fret, Corina and her team travel to serve their clients all throughout the state of Arizona. Each handmade, wood floral piece that She’s Pretty Crafty creates are made tailored to each couple and can be crafted any time of the year. Yes, that’s right, with wood flowers, the flowers you envisioned for your wedding are always in season. The best part – there is no need to worry about your flowers wilting during your Arizona wedding because these flowers cannot wilt.

There is also no need to stress about the color choice for your wedding florals. Why? Because Corina will hand-craft your perfect bouquet and floral design using the colors you choose. And for the floral decor pieces, you also have the option to rent pieces from the collection She’s Pretty Crafty already has in stock. They make it so easy!

More About the Owner – Corina.

Corina has always possessed a creative bug for all things handmade (hence the business name). She remembers having birthday parties that she would decorate alongside her mom. This brought her so much joy. After leaning into that joy, she quickly realized that passion and love for the creative doesn’t always come naturally to everyone. That is when she started offering DIY workshops to the local Tucson community–to guide others to learn to create and feel that happiness that she felt. “It brought me joy to see others feeling capable of creating something they were proud of, because a lot of people don’t feel creative,” Corina said.

With a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old at home, a mobile business did not work out too well for Corina and she took a break from the workshops to be at home more with her family. In this time, she was given the opportunity to create a bridal bouquet, wedding boutonnieres and wedding centerpieces for a family member’s wedding. After this wedding, a spark was ignited and she was hooked on weddings.  She signed up for her first wedding show six months later and She’s Pretty Crafty was born. The rest is history.

Looking back on her experience designing and decorating for her and family member’s parties, she realized that she not only loved creating the designs but she also loved the challenge of repurposing those same designs for other parties. For this reason, she offers customizable flowers as well as flowers that will be repurposed for you to rent. Maybe you don’t want to keep the flowers from the wedding decor after the big day, or maybe you want to use those flowers around your house after your wedding. Whatever your preference, at the end of the day, the choice is yours. Think of your wedding day, and the styles and colors that you love, and She’s Pretty Crafty will bring it all to life.

The Experience.

Happy Bride being lifted up by smiling husband during their wedding portraits at Kingan Gardens Tucson wedding venue in Arizona.

“l love taking care of all the decor for my weddings as this makes me feel like an integral part of that very special day,” Corina says. Preparation for each wedding is a process and takes weeks to complete the design and creation of the bouquets, boutonnieres, and wedding decor. Wood florals involve artistry from start to finish. Each wedding requires conversation with the wedding couple to discuss all the aspects that lead to the creation of unique wedding florals. Floral styles, colors, and accenting greenery are all components that can differ between weddings. Many times flower styles or colors have a special significance and She’s Pretty Crafty will be aware of these preferences from the very start because Corina truly cares.

On the wedding day, you’ll have the option of Corina and her team loading up your wedding flowers and heading to the venue, where they spend typically 3 hours setting up, and at the end of the night, they will come back to tear it all down. Corina loves coming back to tear down. She says, “It is always fun to get to see the energy of the final song!”

Corina spends countless hours making her florals because she cares about the details and wants your wedding flowers to look as real as possible. She puts immense time and effort into each carefully executed creation for her couples because she understands how important these flowers are for your special day. Every piece takes hours to create .“I am a visual person with a big attention to detail. Some bouquets take several iterations to ensure that they are just right. “I will be asking questions to ensure we are on the same page – always. I also make sure that what we imagine in our minds is shown through actual examples and visuals…No piece leaves my studio without extensive quality checks and no piece leaves my studio without the approval of excellence,” Corina says. “Every petal must be painted and every nook and cranny will be filled.”

What is your favorite piece of advice you give to clients?

Consider the Style of Photographer

Wedding couple in a romantic moment during their wedding portraits. The bride is wearing a colorful floral crown created and designed by She's Pretty Crafty Tucson wedding florist
One item that can easily be overlooked is considering your wedding photographer’s editing style. If you have colors you are choosing for your wedding that are meaningful to you or even colors you are choosing just because you love them, choose a photographer who is going to preserve those colors in your wedding photos. Understand that certain photographer’s styles might alter your wedding colors through their edits, so just be mindful of your choice of wedding photographer.

At the end of the day, you only think of your wedding, and what it will look like for you.

Let
She’s Pretty Crafty bring the vision of your wedding day
to life.
